Be yourself. I know that sounds cliche, but we all have seriously quirky things about us that may make us feel like an outsider or different, but those are the things to really celebrate. They’re what make us unique.
– Idina MenzelYou know there’s something wrong when you’re on the phone with your best friend, she says “I’m at Costco,” and you pause for a minute trying to remember what that’s code for.

Decision …
It’s ::official:: as of last Tuesday: I’m going to play {Elphie} in Wicked on Broadway’s BIGGEST and *brightest* stage. Look for me there.
Left-Right: Dianna Agron, Kevin McHale, Lea Michele, Chris Colfer.
This is the most perfect thing ever.

The Little Things
Why is it that the littlest things are the things that mean the most to us? Those are the things that hurt the most and the things that make us so happy we fall asleep with smiles on our faces. I’m not writing this out of a moment of random inspiration. I’m writing this because of a phone call I just received.
I’m currently vacationing in Anaheim, California with my little sister and little brother. I’ve been here since the 8th of July and will be here until the 5th of August. My parents have already returned to our home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. As much as I love it here, with the sun, the relaxation and the extended family, I also love my parents and my friends and my church.
My dad knows this all too well. He called me up from my friends’ going-away-to-college party and handed the phone to six of my crazy squealing friends. I couldn’t understand half of what they were saying and I’m not even sure which friends I was talking too but it was enough to make me happy. I haven’t seen them in almost a month and I can’t wait until I’m able to again.
But why is it that a phone call from some teenage girls or a bouquet of flowers or a post to a facebook wall that simply says “I love you!” mean so much? I think it’s the thought that someone cared enough to do something for you, even if that something wasn’t as huge as a new Ferrari or a college scholarship. That idea that people love you and get excited when they see your face makes the day of even the least social people. And that’s why the phone call was such a big deal.
So, as cliche as it sounds, take the time to thank God for all the little “phone calls” He placed in your life. Sometimes that’s all we need to turn the overslept-was-late-for-school-spilled-Coke-on-my-new-jeans-failed-a-test days around. I am so thankful for parents who love me, friends who make me laugh until my sides split open and siblings with whom I can have a secret language. But mostly I am thankful for a God Who placed them in my life in the first place. So go ahead. I bet you know someone to whom you can give a “phone call” right now.
